Add Application to application list in Notifications settings

Hi there, I can’t find it elsewhere online, so I will ask here. I wish to add a applications to the application list in the notification settings, however I can’t figure out how to do it. I would like to have individual settings for each application’s notifications, but some don’t show up under “Applications” and I don’t want to list all my important apps under “Other Applications”. Where can I find how to do this? Thanks in advance.

settings > notifications > application specific settings > configure

does your application not show up on this list?

if not it probably means that application does not have a notification feature.

No, it does not show up. The app which I would like to configure is Element-desktop. It does not show up, yet it sends me notifications when I get them. I’d imagine it gets listed as an “Other Applications”, but I would like it to have its own settings here.

Hi - for what it’s worth, I think what you’re looking for would ultimately be provided through an implementation of these two requested features:

Thanks for the reply. If it’s only been a feature request as of now, that’s a bit disappointing. If anyone knows of a way to add an application to the application list in notification settings, please let me know!

I’m having a similar issue. I use KeePassXC, which sends a notification each time an application accesses something stored in there. Jetbrains IDEs sometimes repeatedly do so, leading to the bottom right of my screen getting completely covered in notifications.

Since KeePassXC doesn’t seem to have its own settings to disable these notifications, I went to KDEs settings to see if I can hide them there. But it turns out that only some applications are listed there. Anything else, including KeePassXC, is shown only together as “Other Apps”.

I don’t want to turn off popup notifications (almost) everything, just for KeePassXC. There doesn’t seem to be a way to manually add and configure an application to the list.

hi, welcome.

you’re right, there is no way for plasma to add applications to the list because the applications themselves must offer some controls for plasma to engage with.

it’s up to the developers of those applications to provide the access to their notify systems…. some of which have internal controls for such things (maybe look there).

but not even dolphin is on the application list.

KeepassXC does have its own entry in notification application settings for me, actually, running version 2.7.12 (the most current one). Are you on an older version?

I understand that Plasma can’t tell what kind of notification an application is sending without special support by that application, but is it really not able to tell which process sent it? It does display KeePassXC in the notification’s header after all.

Thanks for the hint! Turns out I did indeed just miss it. It’s under “Secret Service Integration” > “General”.

If any of the apps that don’t show up in System Settings > Notifications > Applications are packaged as Flatpaks, the problem is/was a lack of support for the Portal-based notification system.

This was just implemented for Plasma 6.7, and I can confirm that all my Flatpak apps that send notifications are listed on that page as expected.
