Add Clip of Folder does not update

I do certain pre-processing of clips before adding them to Kdenlive. If I begin rendering an earlier clip before all of the pre-processing is completed for all clips, only the clips present before the rendering started are displayed.

I can drag them into the Clips panel but I prefer to select them using the Clips & folders drop down in the 2nd Menu line.

It used to work the way I prefer but it no longer does. Should I report this as a bug or is there something in the preferences I’m missing?

Thanks for reading. any suggestions are appreeciated.

Hello @Tom_Balaban and welcome

I not fully understand what you are doing.

  1. You add all needed clips in the Project Bin.
  2. Then you do some clip pre-processing outside of Kdenlive
  3. You add the finished pre-processed clip to the Project Bin using Add Clip & Folder
  4. These new added clips are then not visible in the Clip Monitor.

Is my understanding correct?

I am downloading YouTube clips (some quite large) that I do some preprocessing to before rendering in Kdenlive.

When the first clip is ready to render I add it to the Project Bin using the Clip Select tool. The 1st clip shows up in the selection panel.

While the 1st clip is being rendered, I download and preprocess a few more clips. When done Nemo shows 4 clips that are the source for Kdenlive rendering.

When I try to add the new clips into the rendering queue in Kdenlive using the Clip select function only clip1 shows in the Selection Panel as the panel has not been updated to show clips 2-4.

I can drag and drop but it would be better if the Selection Panel was refreshed and the new clips appeared.

I hope this is a better explanation.

Thanks for reading and thinking about this issue.

I think pressing F5 does the trick. BTW, I think this is an issue with Qt.

Thanks. I’ll try that tomorrow.

Yes, this will be an issue with Qt and its support libraries on your OS. kdenlive itself doesn’t implement the file selector and folder change detection, it just uses it.

The little circle with arrows icon at the top (or F5 as Bernd noted) will force a refresh. There are OS specific ways it is notified of changes, and when they are working correctly, changes to the folder content should appear almost immediately.

Thanks Ron.

It used to work. Something happened in the upgrade from LM v21.3 to v22.

Good to know that F5 is a simple workaround.
