Adventures in Mis-Clicking (accidental clicks on the space above the Time Control buttons)

Hello community,

I am not sure how to classify this post as I am still early days in adopting KDenlive. I’ve been noticing that while navigating frame by frame in the Project Control area using the mouse, it feels far too easy to accidentally double-click on the tiny space immediately above the Time Control buttons. (See screenshot.)

Would it be reasonable to suggest making the 10-15 pixels or so above the up-arrow button “neutral territory”, where clicks on that space have no effect, so as to minimize the possibility of mis-clicking there and triggering full screen and play? This seems to happen to me fairly regularly if I am not being super careful.

Edit: Adding a screenshot to clarify the region in which the issue can be inadvertently triggered.

I think this is a reasonable feature request. Please log it in the official bug tracker (also used for FRs).

Done, and thanks for reading!

No worries. Alternatively, you can always step through the time frame by frame using the arrow keys.

Oh, I may not have made it clear enough here or in the issue that when clicking on those arrow buttons, there is often an impulse to speed up the rate of clicking to move forwards or backwards more quickly, and this is specifically when the risk of inadvertently double-clicking outside the buttons and triggering the unwanted behavior increases.

I meant arrow keys on the keyboard. I corrected my original reply - sorry for the confusion.

Oops, hadn’t considered that, heh.

(And yeah, using the keyboard over the mouse in general is something I’m trying to do more (old habits).)
