After todays system update my laptop is stuck in bootloop

Hello everyone.
I updated via Discover ca. 36 components as part of today’s system update. I selected ‘install all’ in Discover and rebooted to install the updates. After the updates were installed my laptop rebooted automatically and asked for my BIOS password, which I entered correctly, then hit ‘Enter’ expecting to get the KDE Neon boot options (as I usually do after an update).
However, my laptop rebooted again and took me back to the BIOS password screen. After 5 unsuccessful attempts I decided to check my BIOS settings.
Under the ‘Boot’ section in the boot order list I found three entries:

  1. Name of my SSD hardrive (Samsung Evo)
  2. Lin[something] (can’t remember)
  3. KDE Neon
I promoted ‘KDE Neon’ to the top of the list, saved this setting and rebooted (not expecting a change in behaviour).
To my surprise my laptop booted into the KDE Neon boot options and from there into KDE Neon, where I logged on and all looks as it should.
However, I am now worried that next time KDE Neon performs an update it might break things even more because I changed the boot order in the BIOS as described above.
Is my worry justified and if yes, can someone suggest how I can fix the bootloop issue?
    Many thanks!
