I recently updated my system, and since doing so, now every single time I load up my desktop, I have a popup in the bottom left that says “akonadi_migration_agent” with no other info, and a status bar that goes back and forth / spins forever and never stops. There’s a “pause” button that does nothing. How can I end this process or make it go away? I don’t even know what this is or where it came from, I’ve never seen it before. Some info on my system:
plasma 6.2.4
frameworks 6.8.0
qt 6.8.0
Hi - it looks like you’re running into the following bug: 418727 – akonadi_migration_agent "In progress" dialog never goes away, which has been confirmed by a few different folks at different times but unfortunately doesn’t have a solution yet.
I’m personally not a user of the KDE PIM applications, like KMail, KOrganizer, Merkuro, etc. but perhaps other active users of those applications here might have some workaround suggestions. Akonadi migration would presumbly have to do with the database migrations mentioned toward the end of the wiki article here: Akonadi - KDE UserBase Wiki
Yes that’s it, but LOL at that thread. It started 4 years ago, and the last post at the bottom is the nuclear option. That’s not helpful at all.
I don’t use any of the KDE PIM apps either, so I looked at removing the entire akonadi related system, but it seems its a VERY low level system. Even the clock (!) uses it so if I disabled/removed akonadi my clock on my computer wouldn’t work anymore. I guess that’s not the end of the world, but I’m amazed there’s been no solution to this issue after years and years.
Yeah, the full-blown remove-everything option is a bit tricky to implement because of connections between components.
If you don’t use any of the apps, then perhaps just getting rid of the existing configuration files and databases (I believe in ~/.config/akonadi
and ~/.local/share/akonadi/
) would at least stop the migration agent from repeatedly trying to migrate a database that you don’t need?
