Awesome! I’m happy to see my favorite music player getting updates! Amarok is so slick, looks great and fits my music listening routines (and my folder-sorted collection) perfectly.
Thanks to all involved!

Just as a small status update; I just managed to build a Qt6/KF6 Amarok with the current git head. Context view is blank and a bunch of tests fail (Pipeline ¡ Tuomas Nurmi / Amarok ¡ GitLab), meaning there are probably various underlying problems and bugs, but I was actually able to play music. Looks surprisingly good.

Looks good.
Would be cool if following is implemented:

  1. cue sheet support (as a playlist), similar to foobar2000
  2. ability to hide/show “Podcasts”, “Playlists”, “Internet”, “Local Music” (I don’t use it - I use Amarok as a directory player without DB
  3. When brouwsing directories change the visual style to flat colors instead of the ‘glow effect’ that displays directories.
    It doesn’t fit dark mode
  4. Disable the ‘confirm exit’ when closing Amarok.

Thank you for the comments! Brief responses:
1: Some kind of cue sheet support is there, but I haven’t used it myself, and I’ve never used foobar2000, so I have no idea if it is similar to foobar2000 or if it lacks something crucial.
2: Sounds like a pretty rare way of using the software, so won’t probably happen. I assume you have noticed the Media Source panel can be completely hidden by disabling View → Lock layout & View → Media Sources, but as you want to have the file browser there still, that probably doesn’t help you. But, after one opens the file browser, they won’t see the other browsers at all [except by clicking the home button], and Amarok even remembers the last open browser after restarting application, so doesn’t seem that bad (unless I am missing something here).
3: True, some fine-tuning of visuals there would perhaps be in order.
4: Yes, there’s even a bug report for that 452540 – [FEATURE REQUEST] - System tray context menu - Add option with "Don't ask again" in the corresponding dialog when an user want to close the application - I had a look at it at some point, but I think there was some reason why the default way of adding “don’t ask again” option doesn’t work there. I’ll look at it again at some point.

I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this - here goes.
I have tried Amarok 3.1 and I have these two requests.
1: An option to delete a file would be quite handy.
2: The ability to read and use embedded cover images. If a cover file is not found in the directory, Amarok will not display a cover.

This is an ok place to ask!
1: There’s an option to delete files in collection browser and file browser right click menus (I believe it’s a design decision made long ago that there’s no such option in playlist right click menu)
2: There is (should be?) some kind of support for embedded cover art, but I haven’t ever used myself so I don’t know how it is actually supposed to work (or if it is broken at the moment). I’d be happy to hear if someone is using this successfully at the moment (if not, I’ll have a look at it at some point)

Hello. I would like to know which is the oldest version of Ubuntu compatible with Amarok 3.1.1.

Hi,
that would be Ubuntu 22.04 (corresponding package available at e.g. amarok-kde5 : Joseph Yasi).
