Amarok won't save lyrics

In the past I have always saved the lyrics for songs in Amarok using the “Edit Track Details” dialogue. With a new installation of OpenSuSE Tumbleweed, using Amarok 3.32, after pasting a lyric from a word processing document into the “Lyrics” pane in this dialogue and pressing Save and Close, when I re-open the dialogue the Lyrics pane is empty, and no lyrics appear when I play the track. Changes to the “Tags” pane in the dialogue are saved correctly.

Thank you for reporting. There’s an old bug report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419524 ) which might be related, but many things have changed since that one was reported, so at least all details won’t necessarily correspond.

I’ll try to have a look at all things lyric saving at some point.

Dear Tuomas,

Philippe Conde’s problem seems rather different from mine. His lyrics were in his database, but were not displayed by Amarok when the tracks were played, though they were once Amarok was restarted. My problem seems rather to be to get the lyrics into the database in the first place. Although I have used Amarok for years, I have never worked out quite how or where it saves the lyrics. Could the issue be with permissions for the database files?

Ben

Hmm, ok. I don’t think a permission issue is very likely; at least, if your playcounts & last played dates are saved, the permissions should be OK. But I’m not that familiar with the lyrics saving infrastructure myself, either. (It might be surprisingly complicated, as highlighted by the bug report. I’ll try to familiarize myself with that some day)
