An unrelated app sometimes uses PlasmaShell's icon. Why? How?

HELLDIVERS™ 2 on Steam sometimes renders as plasmashell’s icon in the task manager plasmoid:

How is this possible, and why might it occur? It’s really weird, because they shouldn’t have any relationship.

My wife sees this sometimes too. It’s a bug in certain games’ OpenGL implementions.

Recently, I’ve been seeing the opposite, too. Specifically, https://steamdb.info/changelist/23867813/ shall utilize https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitpit.launcher&pcampaignid=web_share’s icon (it’s installed via waydroid-1.4.2-3.fc40.noarch.rpm | RPM Info | koji). What’s interesting is that it’s always the same icon.

@ngraham, I’m still seeing exactly that:

Does the Task Manager plasmoid truly have no control over this? I’ll gladly file a report at community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/new_issue and arrowhead.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new for the aforedepicted examples, but that seems like a game of whack-a-mole.

Consequently, would it be worth a report to bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=plasmashell&component=Task%20Manager%20and%20Icons-Only%20Task%20Manager too?
