/update: thanks to jsalatas’ insightful post skanlite
in KDE Neon (and Fedora 40) uses qt6. It is still using qt5/kf5 in Arch as the qt6 port is considered not stable enough.
These two still come with a lot of qt5/kf5 dependencies that would be nice to get rid of for a cleaner system
A bugreport re skanlite exists already: 492026 – Skanlite still uses KDE framework v5

Isn’t skanlite obsoleted by skanpage though? And I think plasma mobile devs are making a new camera app in Qt6 which will replace kamoso, but not sure.
skanlite seems that it is already ported in qt6

I’m on KDE Neon btw.
I don’t know, I had installed it for some reason that I don’t remember of and it is sitting next to skanpage
what version is it? Maybe they ported it for 24.08.3? Strange… Arch has 24.08.2-1 which is still based on qt5 Arch Linux - skanlite 24.08.2-1 (x86_64)
We would still need kamoso to be ported though (although it’s not that great, someone could easily propose uninstalling it
- and use Cheese, which sucks being GTK and having those awful CSD buttons
)
24.08.2
Probably arch’s package lists the wrong dependencies
lists or is build with the old dependencies… the latter is the case as seen in PKGBUILD · main · Arch Linux / Packaging / Packages / skanlite · GitLab
Oh well! Maybe kde neon has a newer version, and the package’s version doesn’t reflect it.
It is strange because the CMake instructions for 24.0.8.2 state kf5 /edit: -oh wait is has kf6 as well -https://download.kde.org/stable/release-service/24.08.2/src/skanlite-24.08.2.tar.xz
oh well the packagers will find it out, some pinging is required most probably.
/further edit: The maintainer considered the qt6 port not stable enough 3 months ago, let’s see if it is stable now… Fedora 40 uses the version with qt6 as well.
Thanks for making me aware about skanlite in other distros
Then apparently KDE Neon has a newer code but the package version is kept back.
