HI
Is there anyway i can add a menu bar for appimages, as i am running some emulators but cannot access any settings when using them.
If i run any other application, for example a web browser the menubar works fine.
But if i run an appimage it shows nothing and i cannot access any settings
Is there anyway to add this functionality?
Im on CachyOS and using Plasma 6.3.4

Hi - just to check, are you referring to the feature that places an application’s menu inside a Plasma panel, instead of inside the application window itself?
If so, just for reference as you investigate, that’s generally called a “Global Menu”. There do seem to be some instances of issues with Appimages and Global Menus - although I’m not a user of either myself, it does look like that integration usually has to come from the application side.
appimage executables don’t normally show up in my applications menu so i have to create a new entry for them using the menu editor (Edit Applications…)
from there i can fav them, or pin them to the task manager, or add them to a the quick launch widget just by dragging and dropping.
it’s not clear what you mean by accessing the settings for an app… that would be an app specific thing (assuming it has settings).
there is application called gear lever that does some of this for you, if you want to check that out.
Yeah sorry for the confusion, did not know the correct terminology for the bar. I tried adding an image of the problem and what i was trying to achieve, but it will only let me embed 1 image.
This is what i need to access things like the setting in some appimages. As you can see from my previous post, when i use certain app images it is just blank.
As a lot of apps put their setting menu in the global menu i was looking for a way to force it. The github issue you linked states that they still have a bar, just not in the global menu. I have neither, making some apps almost impossible to use.

Have you tried installing the Flatpak version of that application? That might help identify if it’s something specific to the AppImage, or a more general issue with the application?
The global menu appears fine in the flatpak version.
