Funny thing, the day I saw Plasma has more options for configuring mouse and keyboard was the day I switched to Plasma. But, are keyboard values for rate and repeat properly scoped in settings?
For years now I had trouble with sudden, unwilling keyboard key-repeat. Up until recently, it seemed like kernel or Dell driver issue since, because as far I saw, nobody complained. But the biggest hurdle was discoverability and lack of information searching the web.
Fortunately, I’ve stumbled upon kbdrate manpage from ‘kbd’ package. Short and concise, it clearly states recommendations for changing key-repeat and key-rate values.Plasma provides altering these to user preference, but the man page proclaims that for some hardware, only certain, specific values are possible. User will probably expect at least [i]-info button, since it is really annoying if misconfigured and even more annoying when entering password.
Does anybody had any similar experience?
