Been checking out the Connect SMS app on my new Kubuntu installation. I’m new to Linux, and concerned for security of this app. Is there documentation of how the messages are stored on my PC? Is the data encrypted, and where is it stored? How is the data transferred to the PC? Is it done with encryption?
If you’re concerned about security, you should be more concerned about learning to do a web search as your first line of enquiry.
Kde connect encryption
KDE Connect uses end-to-end encryption to secure data transfer between devices. This ensures that only authorized and trusted devices can establish a secure connection for data transfer. Here are the key points:
RSA Encryption: KDE Connect uses RSA encryption to ensure each endpoint in the process is secure.
Local Network Transfer: Data is sent directly between devices using the local network, never through the internet.
End-to-End Encryption: Encryption is used to authenticate devices upon connection and pairing, ensuring that only authorized devices can establish secure connections.
Digital Signatures: Digital signatures are used to verify the authenticity of devices and data.
According to KDE Connect developers, their use of encryption is limited to authentication, digital signature, and decryption of data or files, which falls under category © of the encryption exemption. Therefore, KDE Connect iOS is exempt from App Store encryption compliance policies, and no additional actions are required to release the app on the App Store.
Overall, KDE Connect’s encryption mechanism provides a secure and trusted way to transfer data between devices, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of user data.
But if I ran straight to google how I would meet such pleasant people like yourself? Thanks for the help.
