Scenario: Extract a .tar.gz
Problems:
Set a default extract path?
When I click that big “Extract” button on the top left corner, “Extract – Ark” prompt shows up to specify the extract path.
But the path is not specified at start, which makes me unable to extract (grey button), it makes it inconvenient if I want to just “extract here”. Plus it’s kind of difficult to specify the current folder, I have to type the path or go up one level and select the folder again.
Say the prompt pops up, the folder being shown is the containing folder of the tgz
or whatever. I expect the path to be set to the folder being shown, so I can just click “extract” button right away.
Also if I select another folder, then click any blank area, I think it’s better if the path is reset to current “working directory” instead of being unset. So clicking blank area means “I want to select current folder”
Select resulting files when showing containing folder?
If I select “Show containing folder after extracting”, Dolphin pops up and shows the containing folder. But I wish Dolphin select the extraction result when it pops up. Say the tgz
contains folder data
, I think it’s better if Dolphin pops up and the data
folder is selected, so I can see it right away among piles of other already existing files.
