Auth Dialog and Fingerprint

Hey,

longtime KDE user but recently switched my laptop to a new one which finally support fingerprint reader. (framework 13)

So far so good, got everything running easy. But there is one thing which I wonder if there is a “smooth” solution.

When I request sudo or any system Authentication Prompt, it pops up the well known “Authentication Required” dialog. Now also showing a info that I should place my finger on the reader… It works.

But; if for whatever reason I dont want to use my finger (gloves, dirty, whatever) and want to use my password instead - I can type it but not submit. When I submit, even the password is correct, it just show the password input in dim darker color and does not continue. Hitting OK multiple times does not change anything. I have to use the fingerprint auth there is no way I can use my password without touching the fingerprint sensor. I can hit ESC, close the X from the note, press return, click OK - Nothing.

If password was entered correctly it is enough to scan a wrong finger to still get a ACK but I cant confirm the dialog without using the fingerprint reader at this point.

This scares me a bit in case the fingerprint reader is not available for whatever reason.

I use Fedora 43 with

KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2
Kernel Version: 6.18.16-200.fc43.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Any Help appreciated.

I have the same problem. The password eventually is accepted, but takes 30-45 seconds sometimes.
