I got a feature suggestion for Kdenlive. I’m new to Kdenlive, so I’m not sure whether this feature already created or not. If yes, teach me how to do it. If no, please consider this suggestion.
I’m talking about a feature where the application can detect any silent part in the audio or video, and auto slice it. Doing it manually, by looking at the waveform, is too tiring, and taking so much time.
With this feature, the application should be able to scan the whole audio or video, and slice all the silent part(s). The editor will choose which silent parts to remove, and which silent parts to keep. Because some silent parts are intentional in the video, and some are not and need to be removed.
Maybe you can add in this feature where the user can:
Set the minimum duration of silent to be sliced, and they can set whether it is “Slice & Remove”, or “Slice Only”. For example, if they set 1 second, then all silent parts that shorter than 1 second will not be sliced. While more, will be sliced.
Set the sliced part to be “Audio & Video” or “Audio Only” or “Video Only”.
That’s all my suggestions. Thanks a lot for your time.
Thanks for your reply. I think the one you’ve suggested is the answer.
But, when I try to follow the instructions, I’m totally lost. I can’t see the “Start Recognition” button.
The application keep asking “Please configure speech to text”. When I open the Language Model webpage, I’m overwhelmed with all the models. I don’t know which one to download. Then I decide to download the English Model, 40MB, install it.
Right now, I’m totally lost. TOTALLY LOST. In fact, right now, when I’m typing this, I don’t know how to explain the things that I don’t know.
Sorry, I’ve never needed this to set that feature up for myself so I’m going to be of limited help with the little details of doing it. If you search for “VOSK kdenlive” that might help you find the clue you need, or at least get you to a point you can more clearly show what you’re stuck on …
Are you trying this on Linux or Windows, and with which install package and version of kdenlive? If we know that someone else here might have more relevant experience to share.
