I just realized that auto-save is not present anymore as an option. Is this by design?
You probably mean version 5.1.3 as a 5.3 does not exist. Here’s the settings dialog of that version which clearly shows the autosave option:

One thing we removed was the splash screen, but autosave is still present. So what makes you think the feature might be gone?
Sorry. for some reason, after the last update, the color scheme is rather wierd.
The selected tab is not different from the non-selected, so I thought I was looking at the Global tab, but instead another one was selected.
Selected the correct tab, and found the setting.
