Bad default mappings when using a controller

First of all, allowing the use of a controller on the desktop is a really good idea that is extremely convenient to use in some cases. However, the some of the default mappings are quite bad. Currently we have to slide the right stick to the left to simulate a right click, and slide it down for a left click. It is a very unintuitive design which a new user will not be able to guess at all. A much better idea would be to use the triggers for left and right click. Thanks for implementing this feature, and hopefully it can get more polished this way!

i’m still using plasma 5 which does not have anything for this input device other than the “game controller” screen under input devices

there is no way to save any mappings or configuration that i can see (tho it does apparently save a calibration files somewhere that could server the same purpose, if you are careful).

it seem to save the file in ~/.local/state/wireplumber/restore-stream for some reason, but i could not find any joystick related…ymmv.

what would recommend is to use jstest-gtk to reassign axis and create a sane mapping of the controller

it gives you full visibility to all the axis and you can map them how you see fit.

otherwise i just let steam do all that for me.
