I have a somewhat rare pay period where I get paid on both the 5th and 20th (and if it lands on a weekend, I get paid the Friday before, but there’s a feature that does that for me). My problem is that while I can clearly create an monthly thing for the 5th, there isn’t a way for me to make it so the paycheck also happens for the 20th within the same schedule.
As far as I know, the best way to get around this is the create a second schedule. Does anyone know a better way? Or that something that would be better suited for requesting the developers to look into as an additional feature? Hopefully someone has something, since KMyMoney has actually been the most complete finance software I’ve used thus far in the FOSS world, and I really want everything to run through it.
I have the feeling that this is your best bet at the moment. I also know that the wish list contains a few entries such as the following
which asks for additional flexibility on setting the schedule periods and dates.
I went ahead and added a comment to that request, hopefully at some point that could be a legitimate feature. Thanks for sharing!
For the time being, I was able to set the date of my next paycheck, and then set it at every 1 half month, and seemed to be on the spot for the next paycheck after? We’ll see, but I’m still suspicious that it’d be off by a few days when the next month comes around with a different amount of days since I’m not entirely sure how they calculate the half-month.
I’ll remind myself to follow-up with this when I confirmed that, in case I can be of help to anyone else in a similar situation.
Okay, so it does look like, based on the projected forecast (also since a pay period has passed), my half-month option appears to work perfectly, somehow. I don’t entirely understand the math behind it, since I just assumed it was on a count (i.e. every 15 days), but I’m happy with it.
