Hi, I’m experiencing issues with KDE Plasma’s login screen. Whenever I have my system sleep for a couple of minutes and I wake it up. It just gives me a black screen. Only my cursor moves and nothing else. I have to open the TTY terminal and restart sddm to have the login screen show and it’s been a nuisance. I’m using proprietary NVIDIA drivers.
A bit more system information would be useful.
Are you using X11 or wayland?
Which Plasma version?
Which distro?
etc..

Hi, sorry for not providing more useful information. I’m using X11. My plasma version is 6.3.5 and I’m using Arch Linux.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was related somehow to bug 484323 .. To resolve the issue there, I do a killall kwin_x11 when I start a session and thereafter the problem doesn’t manifest (the thread describes how to set up a mitigating systemd service which is probably the way to go). But, as far as I know this bug hasn’t been resolved and I have a feeling it will linger because of wayland.
I do regular updates, etc. (i.e. Arch with kde).
Yep, turns out this was the issue. I locked my computer and used htop to check the CPU usage in htop using TTY and it turns out that the login screen utilizes 100% of the CPU and crashes.
