Bluetooth devices don't show up in audio devices

Hello!

I’m using KDE Plasma 6.2.4 on a Debian testing PC. Unfortunately I can’t use bluetooth audio devices any more. The bluetooth connection can be established but the devices don’t show up as audio output or input devices.

I have the impression that this issue arose after the version upgrade from KDE Plasma 5 to 6 a few weeks ago.

I would appreciate any help to determine the cause of this issue.
Thank you!

edit: It seems to me that even connecting is challenging for some devices which is why I am not sure where to look for a solution. In particular I was able to connect a bluetooth box (as described above) but another audio device failed to establish the connection.

I have two Bluetooth headsets paired and they show up as audio devices when they are on.

Sound even switched to such a headset automatically when it becomes available.

I am on KDE Neon 24.04 though and needed to install “bluez-firmware” for one of the headsets to connect successfully.

Thanke you,

needed to install “bluez-firmware” for one of the headsets to connect successfully.

Tried that, but didn’t help.
I also tried to connect another pair of headphones which didn’t work. There were two Pop-ups, first a notification that connection was successful, then immediately that connection was lost.

In the bluetooth manger I get the error: “Connection failed: No audio endpoints registered.”

edit: Installed ‘bluez-alsa’: no problem anymore with regard to connecting new audio devices. Though getting them to play any sound still doesn’t work. And I can’t find any helpfull information about the issue in journalctl (not sure though if that’s the place to look for…)

You might need pulseaudio-module-bluetooth. A pakckage named bluez-alsa might only work on a system without PulseAudii/PipeWire
