Boot splash doesn't show despite 'quiet nosplash' in grub

Sometime in the last few days, the boot splash screen (shown when you start the computer, not to be confused with the splash screen shown after login) has stopped showing.
I have GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" and it was all working fine before but now I just get a black screen on bootup, followed by the usual login screen. When I shutdown however, the boot splash does show up (and it used to earlier as well).

What could have changed?

i think not all the splash are qt6 ready… on kubuntu 24.04 i had to remove the “splash” kernel parameter to avoid boot to a black screen.

now on 24.10 i can turn “splash” back on, but it only seems to work with breeze and breeze (text mode).

i would just delete the word “splash” and leave it at that until things get sorted.

Doesn’t work on KDE Neon.

Seems to have been fixed with the latest Plasma update to 6.2.4. Here’s hoping it stays that way.
