Bouncing Icon should default to max!

Okay so from my friends’ experience and mine too, I personally think that the bouncing icon disappearing when apps don’t finish launching is a bit weird. And confusing. I think it should wait the max amount of time (1 minute / 60 seconds) instead.

So for applications like steam that don’t exactly pop up immediately, It’s reassuring that the app is still trying to launch. And for people like me and my friend, It’s a lot less confusing.

I understand you’re talking about a third-party widget as an alternative to the “Icons-Only Task Manager”, which has no such effects as zoom on hover, bounce on click etc.
Maybe you should also give its name, and also report it at its own project site like store.kde.org or GitHub.

???.. Unless I was… wording things weirdly, I didn’t mean any third-party widgets.
I’m talking about the icon on the bottom right of the cursor when you open an application.

Yknow? the bouncing icon that you can customize to be static when you go into Global Theme → Pointers → Configure Launch Feedback

I did think I should’ve mentioned that when I was writing my previous message so… sorry I guess.

Oh, I see what you mean now.
You’re right that it should continue bouncing until the application window does open, and this is what I always observe, although it’s usually a very brief moment.
But I’ve tried opening a “heavy” app on a “light” hardware, and can confirm that the bouncing icon disappears much earlier than the app window appears.
I think it should better be reported as a bug at bugs.kde.org unless if it has been reported already.

the reason I put it on brainstorm is actually because it is an intended feature!, When you go to configure Launch Feedback via the path I said on the last message, You see the option "Stop animations after: " [set amount of time].

The reason it has that setting is if an app simply breaks or doesn’t launch… It’ll stop the animation at some point, Not matter if it’s still opening or not. (It fixes a bit of confusion)

So it’s a setting that’s worth keeping, and it’s not a bug. (technically)… So I think it actually does fit in Brainstorm… kinda???

I have it in System Settings >Colors & Themes > Cursors > Configure Launch Feedback (Plasma 6.6.5) and had a look at it for the first time.
So I guess this makes me a user who has never used and cared about this feature.
But now I can only think of an ideal solution which is fully aware of the launching process, where such an animation continues until the application window opens or fails to launch upon which animation stops and an error message is displayed.
