Relatively new user to KDE here (1 year). When my machine is plugged into the network through the ethernet, I find it visually hard to spot where my network icon is.
The network-wired icon (see here) doesn’t, to me, bear relation to networking. I’m not sure what it is representing. The squarish rectangle looks like a display on a stand, and is visually very similar to the rectangular battery status next to it, not to mention the clipboard and terminal are also rectangular icons.

I just wonder if the RJ45 icon would be a visually more distinctive icon for this role.
This is not an issue when on Wi-fi, given how recognisable the Wifi symbol is.

Ah, thanks, had a good read through that link. I did try my hardest to search for this issue before posting here, but alas…
Would it be worthwhile me commenting on it to show interest? I’m probably not the right person to draw them though, although it looks like most of the work has already been done.
Right now, KDE-connect, network and battery are all lined up, and they all look quite similar.
Commenting to show interest doesn’t really accomplish anything except spamming people’s email inboxes with un-actionable information. I’m interested, too! And I assume lots more people also are. What helps is contributing new better icons.
Interesting. Iirc Windows uses basically the same icon and just as a personal opinion I immediately think of Ethernet with that icon. Wondering what other icons might stop making sense in the future
