My roommate liked the global theme I have on my system so I went to global themes in his plasma settings and attempted to downloadit and got the below error. I attempted another and got the same thing. I then did a reboot and attempted again and same issue. Any idea on fixing this? Thanks
Installation of /tmp/fqBqmT-Utterly-Sweet-Solid.tar.xz failed:
Could not install dependency:
'kns://plasma-themes.knsrc/api.kde-look.org/2011605'
The Global theme, which comes from the KDE Store, probably a dependency item that either was removed, or the website is having issues. Neither are uncommon, though missing or removed items are the usual issue.
The error gives info that can be used to see what the item is. 2011605 is the key.
Plug that in to the kde store website like so:
https://store.kde.org/p/2011605
This one still seems to exist, and is a Plasma Style used as part of the Global Theme’s dep list.
You can manually download and install this, if it continues to cause errors.
It is Global themes in general. I would rather get to the heart of the issue under the hood rather than have to download and manually install themes for him.
The heart of the issue is that there are multiple causes for this, including Global Themes made by individuals who never update the components list – this is all a Global Theme is, created by users mostly – or never notice that some part is no longer available or has moved.
Another is the Pling websites that are still often unreliable. It isn’t just the KDE focused parts.
And yet when I go to grab these same themes on my system there is no issue. That screams it’s something in Plasma. Not saying it’s a bug cause if it was I should be seeing the behavior as well, but rather something to do with his Plasma 6.1.?.
OK I found kcmshell6 --list and can run kcmshell5 lookandfeel on his system later and post the out put. I just tested it on mine and the command works perfectly.
No, I see similar on Plasma 5.27 as well as 6.1, and it has been an ongoing issue with store.kde.org for some time. Years, really. It often is a “try again later” and it might work, if the tides, wind, and stars align just right.
It has improved a bit since KDE took over (iirc) the old KDE-look websites, but it unfortunately it still has issues. It really isn’t Plasma, imo. A Global Theme is nothing more than a list of individual theme items to be downloaded and installed. The store servers seem to barf on random individual downloads. For me it is almost always the SDDM theme, if one is included.
This has been around for god knows how long. It doesn’t scream anything kde but it’s always the store. You can try at 10:00 and it’ll fail. Try again an hour later and it’ll work. Plasma 5 or 6…doesn’t matter. Nevertheless, it’s been reported many times.
I know it’s been around for a good while, but normally if it doesn’t work on one system and you check another system it won’t work there either. This is why I do believe it is something under the hood with his Plasma and not the store this time.
