Cannot reliably paste images from clipboard

Have the same issue. (Nobara Linux 43 KDE Plasma 6.5.4 )

I configured Spectacle to do a Monitor copy on PrintScrn button. It worked a whole month, I haven’t touched it and haven’t installed any updates etc.

And suddenly pasting had stopped working - I see the image in a tray clipboard widget, so Spectacle does its job. But I cannot paste it into Telegram - nothing happens.

Interesting that text pasting works and region-selected Spectacle images also works! (I’m using Meta+Shift+S for region selection, I also do not launch Spectacle separately for it).

If I launch Spectacle, do the Fullscreen screenshot, and press “Copy” button, it always works.

No idea in which direction I should debug this

See the bug linked, if you can add any repeatable behavior to it.

@slafniy By that bug report it looks like a fix has already been submitted, so maybe it just hasn’t been backported to to 6.5.4.

Presumably the next release will have the fix in it.

Similar issue here, I’ve been using spectacle and flameshot for half a year, nothing wrong happened. I started encountering issues for pasting screenshots about one week ago, the process is as follows:

  1. I pressed the shortcut for spectacle / flameshot, nothing crashing, no error message shown
  2. I tried to paste in qutebrowser / obsidian, sometimes it succeeded but sometimes it just showed nothing

Issue happening situation:

  • I pasted directly after the screenshot is copied (<2 seconds), issue not related to time between copy and paste
  • I have two monitors, mostly the issue happens on the second monitor
  • Sometimes it failed on the second monitor, and I move the window to be screenshoted to the main monitor, and it worked

What might incurred the error:

Now I could not reproduce it since currently it’s fine, but some modifications that I have made that might caused this error:

  1. I tried to change SDDM theme and add some desktop plugins, some error occured related to Qt
  2. I made a whole upgrade via pacman, including Qt to version 6.10.1
  3. Plasma dead after these things are done, both of my monitors are black and it took way much longer to power on
  4. plasma bug report showed SEGFAULT, which is also reported in the QtBug page, many other posts are also about Qt 6.10.1
  5. I did various modifications to fix this, which I couldn’t remember, but main changes are: switching from wayland to x11, kernel to a lts version

After Plasma (partially) fixed:

Main problem solved, my PC could do normal functionality, but plasma still reports error each time I turned on my PC, sometimes I got partially black screen, and:

  • pasting flameshot copied images fail most of the time
  • spectacle also fails sometimes but not that frequent

Flameshot / Spectacle issue current solved for my situation: Turn off notifications for spectacle

I tried the method by @sainthuang, now both spectacle and flameshots work properly (I wonder why only modifying spectacle’s notification also fixes flameshot), but I’m not sure they’re just temporarily fine or this issue is really fixed.

For everybody searching for this:

This will be fixed once you upgrade KDE Frameworks to v6.22.

My current one under bleeding edge Neon is still 6.21. So let’s wait and hope.

I’ve upgraded to Frameworks 6.22 and Plasma 6.5.5 on CachyOS, still the same behavior.
Selecting another entry and re-selecting the image seems to fix the issue until the next reboot.

The OP here. The bug seems to have been fixed. I’ll observe for another couple of days.
