Have the same issue. (Nobara Linux 43 KDE Plasma 6.5.4 )
I configured Spectacle to do a Monitor copy on PrintScrn button. It worked a whole month, I haven’t touched it and haven’t installed any updates etc.
And suddenly pasting had stopped working - I see the image in a tray clipboard widget, so Spectacle does its job. But I cannot paste it into Telegram - nothing happens.
Interesting that text pasting works and region-selected Spectacle images also works! (I’m using Meta+Shift+S for region selection, I also do not launch Spectacle separately for it).
If I launch Spectacle, do the Fullscreen screenshot, and press “Copy” button, it always works.
Similar issue here, I’ve been using spectacle and flameshot for half a year, nothing wrong happened. I started encountering issues for pasting screenshots about one week ago, the process is as follows:
I pressed the shortcut for spectacle / flameshot, nothing crashing, no error message shown
I tried to paste in qutebrowser / obsidian, sometimes it succeeded but sometimes it just showed nothing
Issue happening situation:
I pasted directly after the screenshot is copied (<2 seconds), issue not related to time between copy and paste
I have two monitors, mostly the issue happens on the second monitor
Sometimes it failed on the second monitor, and I move the window to be screenshoted to the main monitor, and it worked
What might incurred the error:
Now I could not reproduce it since currently it’s fine, but some modifications that I have made that might caused this error:
I tried to change SDDM theme and add some desktop plugins, some error occured related to Qt
I made a whole upgrade via pacman, including Qt to version 6.10.1
Plasma dead after these things are done, both of my monitors are black and it took way much longer to power on
plasma bug report showed SEGFAULT, which is also reported in the QtBug page, many other posts are also about Qt 6.10.1
I did various modifications to fix this, which I couldn’t remember, but main changes are: switching from wayland to x11, kernel to a lts version
After Plasma (partially) fixed:
Main problem solved, my PC could do normal functionality, but plasma still reports error each time I turned on my PC, sometimes I got partially black screen, and:
pasting flameshot copied images fail most of the time
spectacle also fails sometimes but not that frequent
Flameshot / Spectacle issue current solved for my situation: Turn off notifications for spectacle
I tried the method by @sainthuang, now both spectacle and flameshots work properly (I wonder why only modifying spectacle’s notification also fixes flameshot), but I’m not sure they’re just temporarily fine or this issue is really fixed.
I’ve upgraded to Frameworks 6.22 and Plasma 6.5.5 on CachyOS, still the same behavior.
Selecting another entry and re-selecting the image seems to fix the issue until the next reboot.
I’m also still getting this exact behavior as described, with the same workarounds helping, I believe in this case the correct bug is this one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510575 as my clipboard history isn’t empty, I can see the image there, but I need to select another one then reselect this one to be able to paste it, which sounds more in line with this newer bug than the one previously mentioned in this thread
Even weirder that I’ve noticed, if I run spectacle -r manually from console, when I ctrl-c my region it will show me that image in the spectacle preview and this way even if the screenshot is massive it does go into my clipboard correctly, however when using the ‘capture rectangular region’ shortcut for spectacle in system settings this is where I get the empty clipboard behavior
I am running Fedora 43 with KDE Plasma 6.5.5. For me, this only happens when screenshotting in Steam when Steam is maximized. The image shows up in the clipboard entry but is unable to be pasted elsewhere. Un-maximizing Steam fixed the issue for me, and this does not happen with other fullscreen applications like firefox.
It’s super intermittent. It works fine now, but just a minute ago I took a screenshot with Spectacle (of a steam game using gamescope, not sure if important). It wouldn’t paste anywhere, and my clipboard was basically empty. But pressing Super + V, it showed up fine.
I was finally able to paste it when I copied something else from my history (Super + V), and then copied the original image. Suddenly everything works perfectly now.
It’s still happening with me, with fedora 43, plasma 6.5.5, KDE frameworks 6.22.0, Qt 6.10.1. But I have some insight: It only happens to me with a big screenshot. This may explain the intermittency others are experiencing. If I take a screenshot smaller than 509x510 pixels, everything works fine every time. If I take a screenshot bigger than 512x520 pixels, it will not paste every time. I’m not sure where the exact boundary is, because that was getting tedious. And I can verify some things others have noted: Choosing another entry in the clipboard history, and then re-choosing the big image allows it to be pasted. It doesn’t matter where the screenshot was taken from (I tested it with screenshots of konsole, vivaldi, and xournalpp). It doesn’t matter where the screenshot is pasted (I tested pasting into xournalpp and libreoffice writer). Disabling spectacle notifications made no difference.
Still happening constantly on Plasma 6.6.0 on CachyOS and still driving me insane.
Disabling notifications unfortunately does not help for me, and it’s not just spectacle either, I cannot copy an image from firefox and then successfully paste it either.
I’m wondering, could this have something to do with the second clipboard for middle mouse pasting? I disable that feature on all my machines.
So no one has reported this to the official support yet? Also, since I discovered this clipboard issue after the update, I’ve noticed that Bluetooth connections are sometimes unstable. My mouse and keyboard sometimes connect very slowly or even fail to connect, which never happened in the older system.
