Cannot render h264 on Linux - MP4/h264 and Matroska/h264 are disabled

I installed Kdenline on Fedora 41 Gnome. all the h264 formats are disabled and I couldn’t figure out why.

I’m sorry if this question has already been answered before, but I couldn’t find the answer.

p.s.

I installed Kdenlive via the Fedora Linux repo, because this was the only installation that didn’t crash right after it loaded. even the official appimage didn’t work on my machine. this is the only version that I managed to launch.

This is possibly unique to Fedora’s Gnome…

On KDE Plasma (Manjaro) all options are ready to go… maybe ask in Fedora forum.

Maybe you need to install openh264 or something…

I don’t know whether this will help the Fedora flatpaks at all, but just in case, have you configured RPM Fusion and installed the relevant multimedia packages?

In any case I believe the flatpak from Flathub should work without this issue.

I’m pretty sure that I did but that would’ve been a long while back when I installed my system. can you advise me on how to verify that it’s installed?
