Can't change Night Light transition duration when "Switching times" is set to any option except "Custom times".

I don’t think this information belongs in the bug tracker, so I’m posting it here.

What happened

I was using my laptop at night, and when I was done, I put it to sleep (by closing the lid). The next time I opened it, I noticed that the Night Light transition took longer than I would have liked. When I checked the settings, I couldn't find an option to change the transition duration, because the "Swithing times" option was set to "Sunset and sunrise at manual location". I already knew that you can only change this setting when "Switching times" is set to "Custom times" option.

This feels like a UI/UX issue to me. Imagine if someone experienced the same situation but didn’t know that transition duration can only be changed when “Switching times” is set to “Custom times”. I see frustration-inducing event here.

Hi - it might not be a “bug”, strictly speaking…but if you’d like to request that as a feature addition to the Plasma Night Color settings page, the KDE Bugtracking System is used for feature requests as well

If you’d like to request that, you can follow the Community Wiki guide to Issue Reporting, and set the importance to “wishlist”.

I did what you suggested. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction

Update

This behavior is expected. Here is a reply from a developer:

In this switching mode, the transition duration is currently intentionally locked to the actual sunset and sunrise times. Changing that is tracked by Bug 443234.
