I write this post to collect ideas, but maybe this should be a bug report. Can someone point me in the right direction? Knowing the component against which to file the bug would help.
I don’t think the connection failing has anything to do with windows not accepting input during the attempt, but not being able to click on them while trying to troubleshoot is not helping me, therefore I’m trying to solve one thing at a time.

Host authenticity warning modal
I’m trying to add a remote folder to Dolphin. I did this multiple times in the past but some time ago I reinstalled the system on this device and it seems I’m not able to do it anymore.
I insert all the details and a notification for the opening of the connection pops up:
Together with the notification, I get a warning that it’s not possible to confirm the host’s authenticity:
I personally trust the host, so I would normally click to connect anyway, but the modal doesn’t answer to clicks.
I tried hiding the notification and nothing happened. Then I tried to cancel the connection clicking on the notification: at this point I can click on the modal, but proceeding like this gets me stuck, as the main window’s “Save and connect” button is now greyed out and going back doesn’t save my preference, therefore I see the issue every time I try to add the folder.
I worked around this deleting the “/” in the folder field and then adding it again, then clicking on “Save and connect”: at this point the notification appears again and I receive no warning regarding host’s authenticity (I just set it to proceed anyway), but… the connection never occurs and the notification keeps going indefinitely.
Another workaround is to click on “Previous” and then select the SSH option again: fields will remember their values.
Main KNetAttach window
I see that the main window too is not interactable when the notification regarding the attempt to connect is open, that is until I cancel the attempt with the button in the notification. I should be able to cancel the attempt from the main window too (it has a “Cancel” button in the bottom right corner) and I should be help to click on the “Help” button in the bottom-left corner, but the window is not interactable during this process. therefore I cannot do it.
Filezilla
I succeed using Filezilla:
