Certain applications not respecting Primary monitor

Hi,

I’ve noticed that a decent amount of the games I play open on the wrong monitor, even though I have my primary set correctly in display settings. I wonder if it’s cause I only used the secondary monitor when I was installing my OS (Fedora 42 KDE). It’s not the biggest deal since I can just meta+shift+arrow key to move it to the correct monitor but it’d be nice to fix if possible.

I’ve tried using kscreen-doctor. My preferred primary monitor is listed second in the --outputs order, although with priority 1 as one of its properties. I seemed to successfully run the command to change priority (kscreen-doctor output.'DP-3'.primary) but nothing changed even after rebooting/logging out.

Any idea if there’s a fix for this? Or if it’d be a good idea to submit this as feedback/a feature request?

Seems that is problem of install the OS with main screen turned off.

In other hand, maybe the game choose the monitor arbitrarily.

My bet is for the first option and after, by some reason, was impossible to fix.

EDIT: Try to do a new user and see if there is more luck.

Regards

I wonder if there’s a way to make my whole OS “forget” the second monitor, so that my main monitor is listed first and thereby maybe making it the default for certain apps?

Then again, no idea if the apps just choose it arbitrarily (or prefer to start on a 1080p or non-adaptive-sync monitor)
