Changing volume not working properly

When I change the volume from the tray the system freezes, the last sound bite is played repeatedly for a time and the everything continues normally. Is this expected behaviour when setting sound volume?

What is your distribution ? And your hardware ?

Of course not, that would be a major issue reported many times. But I myself am not concerned (using intel laptops and AMD CPU/GPU desktop), I think this is mostly local to your system (distro, configuration or hardware) that play a role.

I solved it. It was happening because of configuration of pulse to suspend the sinks on idle.
it was suspending the module for few seconds of inactivity.
commented out the line
load-module module-suspend-on-idle
in /etc/pulse/default.pa and /etc/pulse/system.pa and now it works perfectly fine.

Thanks I can play a test sound without a problem.

When I change the volume from the desktop panel:

1: the current playing sound goes in a loop and replays the last 1-2 seconds of audio
2: the desktop freezes

After about 5 sec. everything is normal. I’m not sure if the developers created it this way.

It is not a laptop, no bluetooth, just a normal PC with build in audio and speakers attached to that.
