I like the ChromeOS plasma theme. I managed to install it. Looks great. However, the clock on the right hand side is too small and the start menu icon is too small. When I go into edit mode, I notice that the top and bottom edges of the panel are thicker that on other themes and I can see that this is what is restricting the height on the clock etc. I can’t change this in the edit panel setting but maybe I can tweak some file somewhere. Any help appreciated. I am on plasma 6.1.5
The plasma theme is called ChromeOS KDE. If I look in /local/share/plasma/desktopthemes I can see the folder and I can see the .svg backround file you refer to, but it is compressed (the end is /svgz as you can in the screenshot…Is that the file I need to edit?
But um…on a sidenote, this theme isn’t quite finished. It should follow the colorscheme, but it doesn’t fully ( see screenshots). There are better chrome os ( what’s in a name) themes out there.
I figured out finally that it was the widgets folder in the main folder that I needed to change. Altering things using inkscape didn’t have an effect. In the end I just replaced the svg file with one from another theme that didn’t have the excess padding and that worked. It should not be this complicated but I figured itout in the end. Thanks very much for your help.
I’d be very surprised if a “proper” edit with inkscape wouldn’t change anything. But hey, you’ve got it working. As for the “complicated” part…it’s not. A theme with the right margin height/width is all you need. Some themes are simply not well put together.
Well I was changing parameters wildly in inkscape and then saving the file and logging out and then back in with no discernible difference but I 've never used inkscape before so I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just mean the whole process of changing themes seems pretty involved. It would be nice to just choose the theme and have it work with one click. It was easier before. Maybe it will be easier again. Anyway, thanks for your help. As always when I have a problem with Linux, I’ve learned something.
