Command line to disable screen lock

Hello everyone,

I’ve disabled (totally) screen lock in graphical mode, but the screen keeps locking. So, I’m wondering if there’s a way to achieve this using the command line. My KDE Plasma version is 5.27.12.

Thanks for reading.

settings > screen locking

controls when they GUI locks the desktop and requires a password to regain access.

settings > power management

will turn off the monitor and put the system into suspend mode (sleep or hibernation)

if you have screen locking set to also lock after waking up from sleep then you may find yourself facing the lock screen after it goes to sleep and you wake it by typing or moving the mouse.

All that is already done, but the screen keep on locking itself.
I even configure the power button to do nothing when pressed.

when you say “locking itself”, do you mean it requires you to enter the password to get back to the desktop or does the screen just go dark?

could be power saving from your monitor kicking in.

the next thing to check would be if this still happens with a new user.

click on the desktop and type users and add a new one to your install… then go into both screen lock and power management and deactivate all the options.

then wait the usual amount of time to see if still locks the screen.

My laptop has a button to turn the screen off and on again. I use it when I’m watching a movie on my TV, which is connected to the laptop via HDMI. When I use it to turn the laptop screen back on, the system asks me for a password every time. That’s it!

that button may have built in hard wired acpi features that trigger the “wake from sleep” routine… so on the screen locking page i would disable the screen locking upon wake.

Ok, I will try it ! But I never had this problem with all the Kubuntu OS I used on that same laptop.

“screen locking upon wake.” This is disabled since months.

sounds like a bug then, i would encourage you to submit a report at bugs.kde.org

So to you there is no way to stop this by a command line?
