I have managed to connect to four devices, (two laptops, one ipad and iphone) and move files from laptop to ipad and iphone but not between laptops. What am I doing wrong?
It may help if you explain how you are trying to connect them.

I can pair all of the devices but I cannot send (or perhaps receive) files sent from the iPad or iPhone to my laptops. My main reason for wanting this app is to easily transfer files from my home office laptop to my living room laptop. If i cannot do that, the app fails my needs. It has been suggested that perhaps my firewall is blocking the app but I cannot figure out how or why.
That use case makes sense. But it is still unclear how you are trying / which app you are using for that.
If you are referring to KDE Connect, I think it should work also from one laptop to another, you just need to pair them.
But there are other options too>
