Control panel gone from desktop, but shows in edit mode

After a recent update, my control panel isn’t visible / cannot be activated (I had it on auto-hide).

System details:

Operating System: Kubuntu 26.04
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2
Kernel Version: 6.19.0-6-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ CPU @ 2.90GHz
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.3 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: Quadro M2200
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Precision M4800
System Version: 00

When I open Edit Mode, I can see the panel at the usual place. Deleting and re-adding does nothing, unfortunately.

Any ideas to fix / troubleshoot? Initially I thought I can fix it by resetting KDE, but this doesn’t work. It’s a sporadic error, so it works normally maybe 2/10 times, the rest of starts, it’s as described above.

Maybe worth noting that I have this on Kubuntu machines, but the ones I use with EndeavourOS / Arch Linux were never affected.

26.04 is still very much under heavy development by both Ubuntu and Kubuntu. Expect temporarily missing and broken bits regularly. If the latest batch of updates does not fix it, make sure that the package libqt6wlshellintegration6 is installed.
