Copy/Paste problems since 25.04 update

Since my update from kubuntu 24.10 to 25.04 I have had problems with copy/paste, especially when I’m using emacs. I find that if I highlight a section of text using the mouse AND LEAVE IT HIGHLIGHTED I can copy to a new location. But, if I highlight and click using mouse 1 or 2 I get the dreaded “no selection is available” message.

Just to be clear, the selection is showing up in the clipit window.

I suspect that there is a problem with my configuration of clipit, but I’m really not sure.

To further complicate things, I just figured out that I CAN paste by clicking on the option in the emacs window. Which leads me to thing the issue might be with emacs, not clipit.

So … did I screw something up? Or was it the update?

Thanks!

So, I spent a few hours today going though my various emacs init files and options. Toggled stuff on/off … no changes.

Then, my brilliant mind (well, not normally all that brilliant, but today was an exception) decided to try running KDE in wayland instead of X. And, it works just fine.

So, I have to assume that there is a bug in the graphical end of emacs in X11.

Or a X11 regression in KWin maybe…
