Crop by Polygon - Zuschneiden mit Vieleck

I have been looking for a long time for a way to crop a clip into a polygon.
I couldn’t find anything in the “Transform, Distort and Perspective” section.
Then I finally found the “Rotoscoping (Mask)” effect in the “Alpha, Mask and Keying” section.
I find the term misleading because rotoscoping in film technology is understood to mean something else, as shown at Rotoscoping - Wikipedia.

I suggest an adjustment:
instead of “Rotoscoping (Mask)” new “Crop by Polygon” in the section “Transform, Distort and Perspective”.
Instead of “Crop by Padding”, new “Crop by Rectangle” in the “Transform, Distort and Perspective” section.

“Crop by Polygon” German: “Zuschneiden mit Vieleck”
“Crop by Rectangel” German: “Zuschneiden mit Rechteck”

This is to make this great editing program easier to understand.

That page says “In the visual effects industry, rotoscoping refers to the technique of manually creating a matte for an element” …

… which is exactly what that effect does?

You can use that matte for cropping, but that’s just the degraded case of compositing it with an empty background …

Just FYI, Crop by Padding does more than just crop by rectangle: Crop by Padding — Kdenlive Manual 24.12 documentation
