CUDA usage for Kdenlive

Hi,

A quick poll to know which CUDA versions you are currently using with Kdenlive or would like to use with Kdenlive :

  • 13.2

I chose “Other” to mean whatever the newest version of CUDA is, since I use rolling release distros most of the time (Arch-based and Tumbleweed).

Right now, on Arch, the latest version is cuda 13.3.1-1.

Hopefully, having the option to use the latest version is manageable, but if it’s not, I would understand and would be looking forward to the day it is.

No, not really. The point of what I am saying is that rolling releases are usually using the latest versions of everything. So, whether it’s 13.0 > 13.3 doesn’t matter, because in a few months (or less) it may be 13.4.

So the option that would matter would be “Latest available version”.

It’s a bit disappointing that kdenlive needs CUDA for segmentation. Ok, I understand that SAM2 is the best model outside and it works fine on CUDA but CUDA is proprietary and nvidia-only. I hope kdenlive can implement a vulcan/opencl/whatever multiplatform free-as-in freesom alternative solution. Thank you!

We don’t have a specific liking for nVidia or proprietary software, we just have limited resources.

nvcc says cuda_13.3.r13.3
