Cursor disappears and KB stops working when using Deskflow sharing

  • Fedora 41 Workstation.
  • Thinkpad X390
  • Deskflow

I have two laptops.

Laptop A connects to Laptop B Wifi Access Point.

Laptop A has an external monitor and Laptop B does not.

Using Deskflow Laptop A shares it’s USB wireless mouse and keyboard to Laptop B.

On Laptop A, a few times now the mouse cursor has disappeared from view and the keyboard stopped working.

Opening and shutting the lid brings it back again.

So I’m wondering how I can troubleshoot this.

I’m guessing it’s the Deskflow application.

KJournald Browser shows me this message

10:42:11.784 UTC user@1000.service kwin_inputcapture: Libeis: 🪲 Bug: eis_device_stop_emulating: missing call to eis_device_frame()

I guess I’m trying to find out if the bug is in Deskflow or KDE before making a report.

Hi - maybe a silly question, but when the mouse cursor disappears and the keyboard stops working, can you tell if they are still physically “live” on the system - lights are still on and NumLock is responsive and all of that - and that it’s the software that’s not responding to the input?

I don’t know, the laptop lid is shut when it breaks, and opening it fixes the problem.

next time it happens I’ll ssh in and have a look at what process are running / hung.
