Cycle through all windows instead of last two with "Alt+Tab"

I’m not sure how to look for this, but I find the behaviour of this shortcut a bit stressful. When I have more than one window in a virtul desktop, I’d like to be able to quickly move through them with Alt+Tab; my problem is that it seems that this shortcut only works for the last two used ones, and if I want to go to the third application I need to keep Alt pressed and wait for the switcher to open.

I remember an option to change this beahviour, but I don’t know where to look for it now.

On Plasma 6 go to:

  • System Settings
  • Window Management
  • Task Switcher

On the “Sort Order” combo box change from “Recently used” to “Stacking Order”

You might need to experiment with the filtering options below the combo box to achieve the desired results

I had to file a report, as the italian translation for such feature is somewhat confusing with the Activities feature: 489876 – Ambiguous italian translation for "Task switcher"
