Default Apps in KDEnlive - Glaxnimate

Hello everyone!
I’m trying to set up a link to launch Glaxnimate from the KDEnlive application. I registered it, but when I try to call it, I get an error. How can I overcome this?
KDEnlive and Glaxnimate are installed from Flatpak.
I tried to do it according to >> THIS << instruction.

Here is the error:

You are trying to point to Glaxnimate as Flatpak. I’m not sure if this is working.

As a workaround: Try with the Glaxnimate AppImage to see if the link in general is working.

I have no experience in installing AppImage files. How to install it correctly? I only managed to run them.

But in the instructions I provided, there is an example with Flatpack

Just Try Kdenlive Appimage with Glaxnimate.

I wrote down the path to the application. Like this:

Then I click Project → Create Animation.
Then a window appears c:

And that’s it.
The Glaxnimate editing program does not start.

But in the Project Bin, files like these appear and that’s it.

Maybe I did something wrong? Or is the path incorrect?
If I run the program, it runs.

Hmm, that’s strange because this means you set it be executable, right? Pointing Kdenlive to the appimage version of Glaxnimate works. I tested it (and wrote the documentation  ).

Also, the flatpak version of glaxnimate should start. You pointed Kdenlive to the folder where the flatpak of glaxnimate is using the Open File icon, right?

They don’t need to be installed. Just download, move to a folder for it (or leave where it is), and make it executable ($ chmod 777 or via the properties of your favorite file manager). But you know that already.

BTW, which distro are you using?

Yes.
I tried both ways.

That’s what I did.
I have Elementary OS 8 installed

Ok, I just tried it again in the 24.12.1 Kdenlive appimage pointing to the Glaxnimate appimage, and it works.

Pointing the 24.12.1 Kdenlive flatpak to the Glaxnimate appimage does NOT work, neither does pointing it to the flatpak version of Glaxnimate.

So, you are doing nothing wrong. I am opening a bug report just in case, but the way flatpak works (sandboxing applications etc.) may prohibit this from being fixed.

The only alternative you have is to use the Kdenlive appimage and point it to the Glaxnimate appimage.

Thanks for your help.

Any best practices on how to install an app and where from?
I like to install it from a .deb package. But the PPA (and the Snap store) have an old version 23.08. I would install it from the PPA and not have to suffer. ))))

Kdenlive doesn’t support PPA anymore. Sorry.

Just download the appimage from the web site: Download - Kdenlive
Glaxnimate appimage is here: Download - Glaxnimate

Put them into a folder (e.g. ~/.local/apps), make them executable, and run them.

Thank you!
How can I make a shortcut for launching not from crnsol, but also from GUI?
Do I need to unpack it first? … or …?
and then what?

./kdenlive-24.12.1-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract

I have a problem creating shortcuts ))))

Unfortunately, each distro or DE has a different approach to (desktop) shortcuts.

Does your distro support an application menu that you can change?

Thanks, everything worked out.
downloaded two AppImage packages.

made a desktop file according to >> THIS << instruction. and it works.

Спасибо!

Shouldn’t it be like this in this menu?

I’ve never seen such a mistake before. (((
