Desktop effects keep switching back on

Hi,

I’ve recently upgraded my laptop and desktop to Kubuntu 26.04, and both the translucent and wobbly window effects keep switching back on.

Is this a problem with the Kubuntu setup? or something within KDE 6.6?

Is there a way I can uninstall/delete these two effects?

Regards

yes to all of it.

just search the forums, it’s being worked on an there are manual workarounds if you need to disable it.

Thank you. I did search. All my results seemed to be people who wanted them on and they weren’t, or if it reset after a graphics driver crash. Neither of which applies to me.

Found a thread about it now. Not sure why I didn’t find them the first time round

and the bug report

you can set animations to instant and avoid all it it for the time being.

Yeah, my global animations speed is always set to instant, doesn’t affect Wobbly Windows though, and translucency isn’t really an animation.

But that other discussion post mentioned the ~/.config/kwinrc file, where you can change the [%d] to =false and that seems to stop it. So all good for now,

Thank you

doesn’t the file keep gettin written over with [%d] again anyway, so that is only a temp solution (unless you make the file read only).
