digikam 8.7.0 face recognition not working on Windows

I’ve installed digikam 8.7 on Windows 11. It’s using a MariaDB external database, as my intention, when I get digikam working fully, is to use it on multiple systems. The database server is running on Linux, while digikam itself is on Windows 11.

I selected a subset of my overall photo library, and ran Scan for Faces, which took several hours. It found about 6000+ faces in those images. I then diligently assigned several hundred images, across about 25 or so people. These are all classified correctly. I then re-ran the Face Recognition workflow, and it zoomed thru the remaining 5000 images in the Unknown category, and at the end it stated it’d found zero faces. None of them even moved to Unconfirmed. I’ve re-built the training data within the maintenance options, to no avail and no behavior change.

I’ve seen other reports of users experiencing similar behavior, though they’re running Digikam on Linux. There seems to be no discussion on the Windows behavior I’m seeing, or in fact, any acknowledgement of an issue, even.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? What can I do to help get this fixed? It’s one of the core features, along with Geolocation, that I wanted out of digikam, and so far, it’s not helping in my facial classification efforts at all.

Thanks!
