Hi,
I’m trying to switch to Linux (KDE Neon) from a Mac, and I’m using digikam 8.2 as a photo manager. But when I try and import photos from my iPhone, it shows all the .heic files as .jpg. Is this normal? If I import one it’s stored as a .jpg.
I can drag and drop a .heic file and it appears in the album as .heic, and the .heic file is added to my pictures folder. So I know it can import .heic ok.
Is there a way to import as native .heic files please?
Many thanks.
Has this question ever been answered? I can’t find an explanation anywhere on the internet why this is happening and how to keep the original HEIC files.
For Live Photos™, digikam imports a JPEG and a corresponding MOV file with the same base name.
I assume that it’s not the iPhone that does the conversion and that there is an extra conversion step built into the digikam importer. Isn’t there a checkbox somewhere in the settings to skip that step? Importing from an iPhone seems extremely slow to me too, probably for that reason.
