Title. v. 8.5.0 on Windows 10.
Basically I can see the splashscreen while it’s loading, and then nothing at all on the screen. Hovering on the instance of DigiKam in the taskbar I can see a preview window that is completely white (then after some time completely black) apart from the title bar.
I tried uninstalling and installing 8.4, temporarily removing the catalog, “digikam_systemrc” and “digikamrc” files, and it starts up fine.
I reinstalled 8.5 and I don’t get a window no matter if I remove the catalog and the two configuration files or I leave them in place.
Thoughts? TiA.
I can actually use 8.4 with the same database (it starts up fine).
I’m not sure if it is in fact backward compatible, but it appears to be working.
Curious as to what’s causing, and if an upcoming v. 8.6 will solve it, whatever it is.
Issue persists when installing v8.6.
Uninstalling and installing v8.4 and it works again.
Weird, something must have gotten corrupted, which must be an issue with the new versions of Qt, maybe?
Just Installed 8.6 and same behavior of not starting after the initial splashscreen. I checked the windows event message and looks like the mysql dll failed.

Done. As you will see, changing the database engine to internal MySQL solved it.
I am using the mysql server on a network linux machine (Ubuntu 24Lts) . Thanks.
