I have not found how. I would like to use my F1 key for other things.
I am on plasma 6.4.4.
F1 isn’t standard shortcut for this, but you can easily change this from Spectacle’s settings
Or from the Shortcut section of System Settings
If F1 is a dedicated screenshot key on your specific keyboard or laptop, this will probably take different methods to get around it.
The Redragon keyboard I have has a funky… misrecognized f1 key… or something. Only thought to try this now. But my laptop’s integrated keyboard does not do it.
Oh wow… a very broken F1 key. Just sends random crap. All function keys. No wonder… I did not even know this could be a thing with keyboards.
did you keyboard come with windows software and did you ever run that windows software to customize your keyboard?
if your keyboard is like mine, it can have the key codes changed at the firmware level by that window software.
once changed the key codes may not be recognized by linux which expects a standard HID set of key codes.
your only option is to go back to window, rerun that software, and reset all the key customization back to their defaults, or standard keyboard layout values.
once the firmware is reset to normal, then linux will not have any issues read the inputs.
I have had a few Redragon keyboards in the past. But I don’t buy them any longer. Quality is inconsistent. But it is hard when you have to keep to a budget.
it’s better to spend the money and have something that lasts… and i don’t buy logitech anymore because it cost a lot AND doesn’t last!
How’s the Keychron K5 Pro with red switches?
I spent a hundred 160 bucks on this thing for that very purpose.
sry, you have to spend 260 bucks now ![]()
My Redragons were the cheap ones.
I like Keychron. I had a couple of their less expensive ones for about a year but sold them when I moved.
I do have their new slim b6, which is a Logitech MX Keys clone, and it’s quite nice, but not 100% as nice but much cheaper, maybe 85% as nice (No backlight and lacks the solid heft and rigidity)
I’m not a Logitech fan at all, except for the MX Keys. I’m using an OK cheaper Cooler Master because things are more expensive here.
