Discover suddenly asks for authentication when checking for packages

System: Fedora 41 KDE, KDE 6.3

Since the KDE 6.3 update some days ago, Discover asks for authentication when checking for updates. The authentication dialog pops up again and again in the background. My user is in the Wheel group. So far, I have not had to authenticate myself when using Disocver. Not even for the installation of programs.
I can’t find anything about this in the settings. What could be the reason? Any ideas what I can do to restore the former behaviour?

Hi - the tasks that polkit does and doesn’t require authentication for are typically set by configurations provided by your distribution. I’m also on an up-to-date Fedora KDE 41, and haven’t seen that issue when just checking for updates, though.

Just to double-check, have any of the files in either /usr/share/polkit-1/rules.d/ or /etc/polkit-1/rules.d/ been modified on your system recently?

Thanks for your response. I’m sure this is not a general issues with Fedora 41. My older Lenovo (Thinkpad X260) is totally fine. My newer one (Thinkpad X13 Yoga G2), has seveal issues. I did a clean install only a few days ago. It is strange that this device has so many problems with Fedora again and again.

Yep, I would also agree that it’s not a broader Fedora KDE issue, which is why I was thinking it would make sense to double-check that the files in the polkit configuration directories are still generally the standard distribution ones.

Also, just to check, what exactly does the authorization dialog say, including the Details information - an example of the window I’m referring to is below, although for a different situation
