Does "Press to click, stop touching to release" for touchpads already exist?

I noticed that when using “Press to click” for tactile feedback, it requires users to keep their fingers’ strength sufficiently high while dragging files/scrollbars/text, etc.

So I had the idea that if users had an option that, while dragging, makes the part of releasing the click into “stop touching” instead of the rigorous “stop pressing”, would be a huge accessibility feature for notebooks. So I created Bug 500237

But now I’m not sure if this is already a setting somewhere, since if it works the way I think it would, then it would’ve been implemented already.

Also it’s very weird that in order to have “Press to click” you need to deactivate “Touch to click”. It would make more sense to have a radio button to switch between the two.

JFYI there’s no need to post about your bug reports on discuss; folks will see the bug reports eventually and respond to them there. Posting about it here forks the discussion and confuses everyone.

The TL;DR version is that the feature you’re asking for would need to be implemented in Libinput.
