I update my system with
sudo pacman -Syu --noconfirm ; flatpak update -y
So I’d like to know if the setting for only applying updates after rebooting works on Arch Linux, since pacman is not 100% compatible with KDE or something similar.
Or the incompatibility is only for the Discovery app when trying to find AUR apps?
Update settings in Discover affect updates that are performed using Discover. You shouldn’t update Arch repository packages using PackageKit according to the Arch Wiki, so I don’t think those settings would be relevant to your use case?
I also feel compelled to point out…with a distribution like Arch, using an option like --noconfirm
on system component updates feels like playing with fire. But to each their own
So that option in System Settings works on Arch?
No, as Arch does not implement the required Packagekit interface
Or at least they aren’t supposed to work and don’t count on them.
We could hide the option for Arch users.
Sounds good.
Thanks!
Maybe it should be hidden for SteamOS users too? I read that it’s a fork of Arch.
Yes it should as all other Arch derivatives. I meant to imply it.
SteamOS is not a fork of Arch but a Arch derivative, same a Endeavours or cachyos and others.
Can you give me the ID of the bug on the KDE’s Bugtracker?
