Fedora 41 : Dolphin takes almost 3 minutes to open music CDs,
I installed Thunar which alone takes 16 seconds,
and the only difference I find is that Thunar points the path “cdda://sr0/” while Dolphin "audiocd:/?device=/dev/sr0 " if I try them together Dolphin influences Thunar and they both take 3 minutes as shown in the video https://youtu.be/J1RgjbzC86s
Since you’ve already filed a bug report 491443 – Dolphin has difficulty reading music CDs, I’d just ask out of curiosity if you happened to have tried disabling CDDB Retrieval in the System Settings, under Input & Output > Multimedia > Audio CDs (on the off chance that perhaps that is throwing things off somehow)?
It might also be worth looking at the system logs right after you click on the CD to try to open it in Dolphin, to see if any warnings or errors related to “kio” or “audiocd” appear that might help give more leads for the bug report.
yes I opened it and I was in fedora 40, now I’m on 41 and the problem came back, I tried to remove the check in Settings>Multimedia>CD “correct cd errors” and in CDDB I disabled the searches, once 16 seconds… and another almost 2 minutes, so it seems to have improved, now I don’t know on windowso and other os how long it takes to open normally!? How do I see the system logs, is there a terminal command?
I don’t know if it’s important but Amarok doesn’t see the cd while vlc sees it and you can hear it
My go-to for checking the system journal (logs) is to do whatever it is that triggers the issue, then do sudo journalctl --since=-5m to look at everything for the last 5 minutes. Then, I usually scan to see if anything related to the topic I’m looking has popped up - in your case, probably “kio” or “audiocd” would be keywords.
