Upgraded from 25.04 to 25.10. Dolphin only displays the home folder. Clicking on a folder results on a brief flash of the folder clicked and it returns to the home folder. Tried deleting the configuration files and apt purge dolphin/reinstall with no change. Installed thunar while issue is resolved.
If you wanted some help, you need to really give a bit more information I would think… it doesn’t look as if you tried anything at all except installing Thunar (though I’d suggest konqueror is a nice fit for Plasma).
Did you try with a new USER?
You suggest waiting until this ‘issue is resolved’ - yet I have no such issue.
Upgraded from 25.0.4 to 25.10 - but I’m using Dolphin 25.8, so that’s strange to me. You could at least mention what software you’re using.
From where did you get version 25.10?
The latest stable version is 25.08.3, and development versions are tagged under the 25.11.x schema, as the next version should be 25.12.
Check your sources, as this might be an unofficial build.
As @meven pointed out, OP might be talking about an Ubuntu-based distro release, not about Dolphin’s actual version.
My bad!
That’s likely the distro, an ubuntu based one.
I think someone upgraded Ubuntu and got some issues with their USER data…
That’s one reason I quit ‘stable’ distributions, never a smooth upgrade path at the end compared to a nice rolling base.
So first steps, create a new USER and verify the error is distribution based or USER based. 99% it’s USER.
Oh, sorry, my bad… Didn’t think of this. Thanks for the heads-up =)
the non-LTS track is decidedly NOT stable, which is why i went back to the LTS track
kubuntu 24.04 is fine and i expect the upgrade to 26.04 to be smooth as the one from 22.04 to 24.04 was.
So that being settled - the plan would be basically clean out the HOME folder, especially any Plasma related fluff?
Back from travel. Sorry my bad. I updated my system from Kubuntu 25.04 to 25.1, for sure not a good experience system wise. I reinstalled just in case there was some install problem in the system files. My home folder is on a different drive. I did delete the dolphin configuration files and problem persists. I do agree that it seems a distro issue as the overall upgrade did no go smoothly.
i would look into fstab and make sure something didn’t get scrambled by the upgrade…. having your /home on a separate disk might have thrown it for a loop.
Have you tried creating a new USER???
If the problem is in your HOME, then you should try a newly built house before working out how to fix your own.
